Welcome to my website! It is currently under construction! Please come back soon!
In the meantime, please feel free to check out my most recent performance. This was the Canadian Premiere of an electro-accoustic euphonium solo written by my awesome Irish Composer friend, Thomas Kelly:
Set Adrift is Kelly’s most recent work, a project for solo euphonium and electronics that became well-received immediately. There are three distinctive sections: In the beginning the music is calm and organic portraying the idea of one being “set adrift” into space. The music delivers suspense yet emotions of loneliness are prevalent. Once the feeling of loneliness becomes more familiar, the middle section of the piece introduces a more upbeat mood, as we envision the excitement that is experienced being in a new place for the first time. The music becomes more serious, when a recurring rhythmic pattern, which is Morse code for the letters S.O.S., builds frantically. Finally, to end, the recapitulation of the introduction returns to represent feelings of despair and hopelessness. As the music fades away, it resembles the parallel of the person drifting deeper into the entity of space. This work features multi-phonics and distortion effects.
